Q&A with Director, Jeff Mizushima

How did you meet Lun*na Menoh?

I was originally hired to film a promotional video about Lun*na's band at the time called Jean Paul Yamamoto in 2007. The first day I met Lun*na, I was filming her. Little did I know I would continue filming her to this day. Whenever I hang out Lun*na, I feel weird NOT to film her.

What do you think about Lun*na Menoh?

I have mixed emotions right now.

Do you have any characteristics that are similar to Lun*na's?

I wish. Lun*na is one of the most tenacious and disciplined artists I know, who is always creating and finishing her projects, unlike me, who took 12 years to make this movie.

Lun*na told me that she asked you to get her favorite Japanese crackers and she thinks you are her Senbei (Japanese rice cracker ) dealer, kind of like a drug dealer, How do you feel about that?

Senbei is the best junk food. Way better than Takis Fuego Hot Chili Pepper & Lime Tortilla Chips. But the game changer is combining Senbei with Takis.

What were some of the biggest challenges in making this movie?

There was only one challenge....Lun*na. Don't tell her I said that. She thinks I had fun.

You have used the huge list of the cameras and you’ve owned all of them. That’s awesome! Do you think of yourself as an equipment geek?

I do not consider myself a geek. It's probably much worse than that.

How do you keep track of the incredibly huge camera list?

In my opinion, I don't consider that a huge list.
